Australia post world-record Twenty20 score of 263 in clash against Sri Lanka

Glenn Maxwell scores an unbeaten 145 against Sri Lanka as Australia post 263 runs - the highest ever total in a Twenty20 international.

Australia have put their name in the Twenty20 history books by posting the highest ever international score of 263 in a match against Sri Lanka in Pallekele.

Opening batsman Glenn Maxwell was the star of the show as he top-scored with an unbeaten knock of 145.

The 27-year-old racked up the runs, which included nine sixes and 14 boundaries, off 65 balls during the tourists' innings, which ended on 263-3 after 20 overs.

David Warner, Usman Khawaja and Travis Head contributed with 28, 36 and 45 runs respectively.

The previous record was held by Sri Lanka, who hit 260-6 against Kenya.
