American Madison Keys is through to the Wimbledon second round after she defeated Laura Siegemund.

Madison Keys has dropped just four games on her way to a comfortable win over Laura Siegemund in the first round at Wimbledon.

The 19th seed showed at the Aegon Classic in Birmingham that she was a considerable threat on the grass, and she was in fine form as she dispatched of Siegemund by a 6-3 6-1 scoreline.

Siegemund stuck with the American during the opening set but a second break of serve for Keys proved to be the difference as she looked to make a statement at SW19.

The 2015 quarter-finalist then dominated the second against the world number 42 to set up a meeting with Kirsten Flipkens on Wednesday.
