First-half tries from Ugo Monye and Ollie Lindsay-Hague give Harlequins a 20-15 win over London Irish in their first game of the new Aviva Premiership season.

Harlequins have opened the new Aviva Premiership season with a 20-15 win despite failing to score in the second half of their match against London Irish at Twickenham this afternoon.

Harlequins were ahead after 10 minutes when Ugo Monye broke off a tackle from Tom Fowlie before reaching for the line.

Monye sustained an injury later in the opening half, but his replacement, Ollie Lindsay-Hague, made the most of a mistimed tackle from Topsy Ojo to sprint back for a second.

Shane Geraghty added a couple of penalties before the break, but the Exiles remained 14 points down heading into the second half.

The fly-half added a string of kicks after the restart, while Joe Marler and Kyle Sinckler were both sent to the sin bin for Quins, but Irish could not get a try on the board to overturn their opponents' first-half advantage.
