The pair race for Gene Haas's new F1 team, with the Californian also co-owning the top Nascar outfit Stewart-Haas.

Grosjean is keen to use the opportunity to try American's premier tin-top racing category, perhaps with a Sprint Cup road course race later this year.

"I definitely want to do it," he said recently.

When asked in Monaco if he is as keen as Grosjean to use the Haas tie-up as an opportunity to sample life as a Nascar driver, teammate Gutierrez sounded uninterested.

"I am a Formula 1 driver and I want to stay that way," the Mexican said.

"I am focused on my performances in formula one and want to become world champion."

Haas are currently sixth in the 2016 F1 team rankings.
