Jordan Spieth cards a third-round five-under-par 65 to top the Dean & Deluca invitational leaderboard heading into the final day of the competition in Texas.

World number two Jordan Spieth will take a one-shot lead into the final round of the Dean & Deluca invitational.

Playing at his home tournament, Spieth carded a third-round five-under-par 65 at the Colonial Country Club to move to the top of the standings.

A strong second-round showing on Friday allowed the American pro to close in on Bryce Molder, Anirban Lahiri and Webb Simpson, with six birdies in the latest round completing his comeback.

Spieth did blot his scorecard somewhat on the final hole, although even a disappointing bogey on the last was not enough for the chasing pack to capitalise as he finished on top ahead of Sunday's final round.

2012 US Open champion Simpson and compatriot Ryan Palmer provide the sternest challenge in a tie for second, currently just one shot behind Spieth who is searching for a maiden triumph in Texas.
