West Ham United's Declan Rice is just one booking away from a suspension heading into the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final with Lyon on Thursday.

West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice is just one booking away from a suspension heading into the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie with Lyon on Thursday night.

The Hammers played out a 1-1 draw with 10 men against the French outfit in the first leg at the London Stadium, with Tanguy Ndombele cancelling out Jarrod Bowen's opener.

Rice, who has been booked twice in this year's competition, managed to avoid picking up a yellow card in the first leg, but should he be cautioned on Thursday, then the 23-year-old would miss the first leg of a potential semi-final with either Barcelona or Eintracht Frankfurt.

When discussing the risk of starting Rice at his pre-match press conference on Wednesday, West Ham boss David Moyes said: "The rules are there so I can't really answer it any other way. Everyone knows the situation.

"We're always trying to get the best players on the pitch. The rules are there so we know what can happen."

West Ham left-back Aaron Cresswell will miss the second leg following his red card last week, while centre-back Kurt Zouma is ruled out with a knee injury, with Moyes to contemplate starting Rice at the heart of the defence as a result.
