Valencia failed to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Europa League following a 76th-minute away goal from Athletic Bilbao's Aritz Aduriz at the Mestalla on Thursday evening.
Gary Neville's side had a 2-0 lead for the majority of the game thanks to first-half goals from Santi Mina and Aderlan Santos, but Aduriz caused the damage to make the tie 2-2 on aggregate.
To add insult to injury, Neville was sent to the stands after arguing with the match officials shortly after Athletic scored.
