Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering the appointment of former Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri, if they decide to replace Jose Mourinho.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering the appointment of former Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri, if they decide to replace Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese boss has recently emerged as the bookmakers' favourite to be the next Premier League manager sacked, following a poor run of results which has seen Spurs eliminated from the Europa League and slip six points behind the top four.

According to Italian television channel Rai Sports, Tottenham's hierarchy are beginning to lose patience with Mourinho and are now looking at possible replacements, with Sarri believed to be one of their top targets.

Sarri's most recent managerial post was with Juventus last season and despite winning the club's ninth successive Serie A title, the 62-year-old was sacked after just one year in charge.

Prior to this, the Italian left Chelsea in similar fashion, as he parted company despite winning the Europa League and securing a top-four finish in the Premier League.

As well as Spurs, Sarri's former side Napoli are also believed to be interested in bringing him back to the club, with current boss Gennaro Gattuso at risk of losing his job.
