Sunday's Ligue 1 predictions including Marseille vs. Lyon

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Ligue 1 fixtures, including Marseille vs. Lyon.

Troyes vs. Lille (Sunday, 12.00pm)

Lille square off against Troyes on Sunday afternoon knowing that only a win will do if they want to remain competitive in the race for the European places.

At a time when the visitors sit in ninth position in the Ligue 1 standings, Troyes are in 16th place, just two points above the relegation zone.

We say: Troyes 1-2 Lille

With neither team having particularly impressed in recent weeks, this has the makings of being a hard-fought contest. Nevertheless, there can be no doubting that Lille possess the superior quality, something which could shine through at a time when they need to take more risks going forward.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Brest vs. Clermont (Sunday, 2.00pm)

Clermont head into their meeting with Brest on Sunday afternoon looking to extend their two-point advantage over the Ligue 1 relegation zone.

At a time when the visitors are scrapping for their top-flight future, Brest are safely in mid-table, a consequence of claiming successive victories.

We say: Brest 2-1 Clermont

Having recently shown their character to move outside of the drop zone, we fancy Clermont to push Brest all the way on Sunday afternoon. That said, we cannot ignore the improvements made by the home side, leading us to predict a narrow home victory.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 3.5 goals.

Lorient vs. Reims (Sunday, 2.00pm)

Lorient and Reims will be out to confirm their Ligue 1 survival when they go head to head at the Stade du Moustoir on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts were on the receiving end of a thumping defeat last weekend to leave them dangerously close to the drop zone, whilst the visitors were narrowly beaten on home soil against second-placed Marseille.

We say: Lorient 1-0 Reims

With goals not being either of these sides' strong point this season, it is difficult to see this being an open and entertaining encounter on Sunday.

Lorient are finishing the campaign strongly at home, and with the hosts requiring the points more desperately in these closing stages of the campaign, we can see them nicking a narrow victory to boost their survival hopes further.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Monaco vs. Angers (Sunday, 2.00pm)

Monaco go in search of a seventh successive Ligue 1 victory when they welcome Angers to the Stade Louis II on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts kept themselves in the mix for the Champions League places as a result of another win last weekend, whilst the visitors extended their winless run further to leave them in danger of the drop at the wrong end of the table.

We say: Monaco 2-0 Angers

Considering the form of Monaco heading into this clash, it is difficult to see many Ligue 1 sides preventing them from coming out victorious at this stage, especially visitors Angers.

The away side continue to suffer from an awful run of form, and with forward options very limited at the Stade Louis II, they are unlikely to cause their high-flying hosts too many problems on Sunday, meaning Monaco should stroll to a comfortable victory.

Our tipster partners are predicting a home win.

Montpellier vs. Metz (Sunday, 2.00pm)

Two sides desperately out of form go head to head in Ligue 1 on Sunday, with Montpellier HSC hosting Metz at the Stade de la Mosson.

The hosts have seen their challenge for European football fall apart following their poor recent spell, whilst the visitors could finally see their inevitable relegation from the top flight confirmed depending on results.

We say: Montpellier HSC 2-0 Metz

With both sides lacking in confidence following awful runs of form, it is unlikely to be a spectacle full of goals on Sunday.

Although the hosts look far from their usual best, they should possess enough to see off a poor visiting Metz side that continue to lack any character and fight as they slide towards an inevitable relegation.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 3.5 goals.

Bordeaux vs. Nice (Sunday, 4.05pm)

Nice's Andy Delort celebrates scoring their first goal with teammates on March 5, 2022© Reuters

Sunday's Ligue 1 clash between Bordeaux and Nice at Matmut Atlantique could have huge implications at both ends of the table.

The hosts were on the wrong end of an eight-goal thriller last weekend as they edged closer to the drop, whilst the visitors picked up a narrow victory to keep their European qualification dreams alive.

We say: Bordeaux 1-2 Nice

Although Nice have desperately struggled on their travels in recent weeks, there could not be many other sides that they would be eager to face in order to end their poor run.

The hosts cannot stop conceding goals despite success in front of goal themselves, so it is likely to cost them once again with a strong Nice side visiting the Matmut Atlantique.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 3.5 goals.

Marseille vs. Lyon (Sunday, 7.45pm)

Marseille's Gerson celebrates scoring their first goal with Matteo Guendouzi on April 7, 2022© Reuters

Marseille will aim to tighten their grip on second place in the Ligue 1 table when they welcome Lyon to the Orange Velodrome for Sunday evening's Choc des Olympiques.

Jorge Sampaoli's side suffered a 3-2 loss in the first leg of their Europa Conference League semi-final with Feyenoord in midweek, while Les Gones most recently ran out 5-2 winners against Montpellier HSC.

We say: Marseille 2-2 Lyon

It is nigh-on impossible to predict what to expect from this Lyon side on a daily basis, but a Gones outfit boosted by a couple of returning players are capable of troubling a fatigued and rotated Marseille crop.

Bosz's side have struggled to win games away from home all season, but Marseille did not cover themselves in glory defensively on Thursday, and we can picture an entertaining derby ending with a share of the points.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 3.5 goals.
