Manchester United are out to equal a 60-year-old top-flight goalscoring record when they take on Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Thursday evening.

Manchester United will be aiming to equal a 60-year-old top-flight goalscoring record when they travel to Bramall Lane to take on Sheffield United on Thursday evening.

Despite largely struggling for results on their own patch, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have made a habit of winning away from home in the Premier League and have taken 15 points from 15 on the road so far this season.

The Red Devils have struck at least three times in each of their Premier League away matches this term, and United also notched up two or more goals in their final four away games of the 2019-20 top-flight campaign.

Should the Red Devils breach Sheffield United's defence at least twice on Thursday evening, they will have scored two or more goals on the road in the league 10 times in a row - a record that has stood for 60 years.

Tottenham Hotspur were the last team to achieve such a feat in 1960, and Spurs were also the most recent side to stop United chalking up more than one goal in an away league match - a 1-1 draw in the capital back in June.

Solskjaer's side have already equalled Leeds United's 2001 record of nine consecutive away matches in the top flight with two or more goals scored, and the Red Devils sit ninth in the table before Thursday's game at Bramall Lane.
