Manchester City have reportedly beaten off competition from Barcelona to secure the signing of Velez Sarsfield youngster Benjamin Garre.

The 15-year-old, who is the grandson of former Argentina international Oscar Garre, has previously spent time training with Manchester United.

Barcelona were believed to lead the race for the teenager, but according to Goal.com, Man City have seen off the threat of the Spanish champions to secure the attacking midfielder's signature.

New boss Pep Guardiola will officially take charge at the Etihad Stadium next month.
