Aymeric Laporte suggests that he wants to stay at Manchester City this summer amid talk of interest from Barcelona.

Manchester City centre-back Aymeric Laporte has suggested that he has no interest in leaving the Etihad Stadium this summer despite speculation linking him with a move to Barcelona.

The 28-year-old has only made 19 appearances for the Citizens during the 2022-23 campaign, missing the start of the season through injury and since struggling to earn regular action.

Laporte has only started seven Premier League matches this term, with John Stones, Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake all seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order.

Barcelona are believed to be keeping a close eye on the situation, with the Catalan outfit thought to be keen to secure his signature during the summer market.

However, Laporte has said that he wants to "make history" with Man City 'for as long as he can'.

"City for me is everything," Laporte told reporters. "I have only played for two clubs in my career. Athletic Bilbao, the team before City, I love this team too.

"They said to come here and since the first day I realised that it was something very special and I wanted to come here to win many, many trophies and make history with this club as long as I can.

"This team is a winning team and we have the mentality to win every single game. Maybe the one thing that has changed from the other years is we have a machine up front (Erling Braut Haaland) who is scoring goals in every game which is making our job easier.

"I think this is maybe the difference. We are trying to take this in a good win to try and win all of these titles.

"The most important thing for us are the titles this season and if we can do it, it will be something great at the end. We are a strong group and I think we are all friends and happy for each other.

"We can achieve three titles, but it will be tough because in the FA Cup we have Manchester United, in the Premier League we have many good teams and teams that are fighting to survive and stay in the division.

"We just have to be focused on ourselves. In the Champions League we face another big team in Real Madrid and we will try to get our revenge from last year."

Laporte made the move to Man City from Athletic Bilbao in January 2018, and he has represented the Citizens on 174 occasions, scoring 12 goals and contributing four assists.

Pep Guardiola's side will face Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Champions League, and Manchester United in the final of the FA Cup, while they are currently top of the Premier League table, one point clear of second-placed Arsenal with a game in hand on the Gunners.
