Reds chief: 'Coutinho future unpredictable'

Liverpool chief executive Peter Moore is unable to offer assurances that Philippe Coutinho will remain at Anfield, as talk of a move to Barcelona refuses to go away.

Liverpool chief executive Peter Moore has confessed that it is impossible to guarantee whether Philippe Coutinho will still be at Anfield at the end of the winter transfer window.

The Brazilian playmaker has lit up the red half of Merseyside once again this season since seeing a dream move to Barcelona break down in the summer.

Barca had three offers rejected for one of their top targets, the largest totalling £118m, but have been constantly linked with Coutinho in the weeks leading up to the January market.

Boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted to growing tired of the ongoing speculation, as he expects the midfielder to remain, but Moore concedes that no assurances can be offered to the German at this stage.

"We made one statement last year and the player is not for sale and that is the statement the ownership made," he told Sky Sports News. "Me adding to that, every day you see stories emanating from Spain that Barcelona, or whomever, are coming back for Philippe Coutinho.

"I saw a player who was delighted to score a hat-trick for his club in front of 54,000 delighted fans on Wednesday night. And anything other than that focus right now is on Sunday and then we have West Brom, and it is all about Philippe on the pitch right now.

"As far as I am concerned, the squad we have right now is the squad we are going to go into January with. And I do not have a crystal ball, so I do not know what is going to happen. But Philippe Coutinho is a dedicated, intense Liverpool player right now that is delivering."

Coutinho, who netted his first hat-trick for Liverpool against Spartak Moscow in midweek, revealed earlier this week that he is 'unsure' where his future lies.
