The heavyweight rematch between Tony Bellew and David Haye has been rescheduled for May 5.

After Bellew stunned Haye with an 11th-round stoppage win in March, a second showdown had been due to take place on December 17 until Haye sustained a biceps injury which required surgery.

Bellew had indicated that he was not keen to wait until May for his return to the ring, but the two fighters have confirmed that they will do battle for a second time at London's O2 Arena.

There had been talk of Tyson Fury becoming Bellew's next opponent should the unbeaten former world heavyweight champion resolve his ongoing saga with UKAD, but that bout will not happen until the summer at the earliest.

Bellew has said that he is keen to face Haye and Fury in 2018 in order to earn a world title shot towards the end of the year, while Haye has acknowledged that he must defeat Bellew in order to save his career.
