David Higgins: 'Camp Nou could stage Anthony Joshua, Joseph Parker showdown'

Duco Events promoter David Higgins suggests that Barcelona's Camp Nou is capable of staging a heavyweight showdown between Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker.

Duco Events promoter David Higgins has suggested that Camp Nou could stage a heavyweight unification clash between Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker.

Negotiations are currently ongoing with regards to a potential showdown between IBF and WBA champion Joshua and WBO title holder Parker, with both parties looking to arrange the bout for the spring.

Joshua's representative Eddie Hearn has recently claimed that no decision has been made over whether a clash would take place in an indoor arena or at a stadium, but Higgins has thrown Barcelona's iconic home into the mix.

Higgins told Sky Sports News: "The reason I threw Barcelona out there, is because I know the English love to go to Spain and there will be a lot of expats in Spain.

"It's a short flight. That stadium is massive. They're not in need of tourists, they probably think they have too many, but if it's off the main tourist season then as an economic thing, it would stack up.

"A lot of English would go for a week in Spain. I'm throwing it out there as a possibility, without having any discussions with them."

At this stage, Twickenham and Cardiff's Principality Stadium - which hosted Joshua's win over Carlos Takam in October - appear to be the frontrunners to stage the match.
