Liverpool would have allegedly preferred to sign either Jamal Lewis or Sergio Reguilon over signing Olympiacos left-back Konstantinos Tsimikas.

Liverpool allegedly only moved for Olympiacos defender Konstantinos Tsimikas after missing out on two other targets.

Keen to bring in backup for left-back Andrew Robertson, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is said to be on the brink of signing Greece international Tsimikas.

The Premier League champions are reportedly willing to complete a £11.75m deal for the 24-year-old.

However, according to the Daily Star, Klopp would have preferred to have signed either Jamal Lewis or Sergio Reguilon.

Norwich City and Real Madrid were both demanding in the region of £20m for their respective players, leaving Liverpool to pursue a deal which was regarded as better value for money.

Despite their recent success, the Merseyside outfit are restricted in the transfer market this summer.
