How Manchester City could line up against West Bromwich Albion

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester City could line up in Tuesday's Premier League clash with West Bromwich Albion.

Manchester City will be aiming to record just their sixth Premier League victory of the season when they welcome West Bromwich Albion to the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.

Pep Guardiola's side, who played out a goalless draw with Manchester United in the league on Saturday, are currently down in ninth spot in the table after a disappointing start to the season.

City will fancy their chances of recording a 15th straight win over West Brom during the week, though, with the Baggies currently in 19th, having picked up just six points from their 12 matches this term.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the hosts could line up against Slaven Bilic's side.

City will again be unable to call upon Eric Garcia on Tuesday due to a muscular problem, while Sergio Aguero is also a huge doubt, having missed out on a place in the squad against United due to illness.

It seems unlikely that Aguero will return to the XI even if he is passed fit, meaning that Gabriel Jesus should keep his spot in the final third of the field.

Guardiola is expected to resist the temptation to change his defence, meanwhile, with John Stones again likely to be preferred to Aymeric Laporte, while Joao Cancelo should edge out Benjamin Mendy at left-back.

There might be alterations further forward, though, with Ilkay Gundogan potentially coming in for Fernandinho in the middle of the park, while Ferran Torres could replace Riyad Mahrez on the right.

Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling are not expected to be rested against the Baggies, though, meaning that there could be more frustration for Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva.
