Georginio Wijnaldum has played his final game in Liverpool colours and will leave the club when his deal expires next month, Jurgen Klopp confirms.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Georginio Wijnaldum will leave the club when his contract expires next month.

The Netherlands international's future has been the subject of persistent speculation for the past few months while the clock has been ticking on his Anfield deal, and the club and player have ultimately been unable to agree on an extension.

After playing 78 minutes against Crystal Palace on the final day of the Premier League season, Wijnaldum's departure was announced by Klopp, who paid tribute to the former Newcastle United man at Anfield.

Speaking to the press about the 2-0 win on Sunday, Klopp said: "Outstanding, best I could've dreamt of - we wanted this feeling, this game, this atmosphere.

"Finishing the season in third is incredible, I can't believe it - credit to the boys I can't believe how it worked out in the last few weeks, incredible.

"Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips are both cut up and stitched, Rhys hasn't trained for three days, Gini Wijnaldum leaving the club and we all love him to bits.

"We will miss him so much, with football it's normal that people leave, but I will miss him so much."

Wijnaldum leaves Liverpool having scored 22 goals and assisted 16 more in 237 appearances for the Reds, with Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich all supposedly ready to battle for his signature.
