Barcelona attacker Philippe Coutinho says it is impossible to rule out a return to Liverpool and the Premier League in the future.

Barcelona playmaker Philippe Coutinho has refused to rule out a return to Liverpool and the Premier League in the future.

The Brazil international starred over several seasons at Anfield between 2013 and 2018, where he amassed 54 goals in 201 games for the Reds before making the switch to Camp Nou.

Coutinho has not hit his usual heights since arriving in Catalonia, but while the South American has enjoyed a more prominent role in the team under Ronald Koeman, he has insisted that nothing can be ruled out with regards to a potential Premier League return.

Speaking to World Soccer Magazine, Coutinho said: "The Premier League is one of the most exciting leagues in the world. Having the opportunity to play for a team like Liverpool will always be something for which I will be grateful.

"It is impossible to say what might or might not happen in the future. But right now my only goal is to be successful with Barcelona."

Coutinho scored Barcelona's third goal in their 4-0 thrashing of Osasuna at the weekend, which was the 28-year-old's fifth goal contribution of the season in all competitions.

The former Liverpool man is under contract at Camp Nou until the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
