Olivier Giroud becomes the first Chelsea player since Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink in October 2001 to score in six consecutive Premier League starts.

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud became the first player in over 19 years to score in six consecutive Premier League starts for the Blues in their 3-1 win over Leeds United on Saturday.

Despite mounting speculation over his future, Giroud has been in prolific form over the past few weeks and followed up his four-goal showing against Sevilla with Chelsea's first against the Whites.

Leeds had initially taken the lead through Patrick Bamford, but Giroud prodded home before Kurt Zouma and Christian Pulisic wrapped up the win for Chelsea in front of 2,000 fans at Stamford Bridge.

Starts in the Premier League have been hard to come by for the veteran Giroud, but the former Arsenal man has now become the first player since Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink in October 2001 to score in six consecutive Premier League starts for Chelsea.

Furthermore, at 34 years and 66 days old, Giroud is the oldest player in Premier League history to score in six starts in a row, with the France international bagging goals against Leeds, Watford, Crystal Palace, Norwich City, Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers from the first whistle.

Giroud has been heavily linked with a move to Serie A as of late, but the forward recently announced his desire to remain at Chelsea, with his contract set to expire next summer.
