Manchester United 'set to double Bruno Fernandes wages with lucrative new deal'

Manchester United are reportedly ready to reward Bruno Fernandes with a bumper new deal which would see his wages at Old Trafford double.

The Portugal international has taken the Premier League by storm since his arrival and once again proved his importance to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side against West Ham United.

Fernandes was initially named on the bench, but the playmaker was brought on when United were 1-0 down and set up Paul Pogba for the equaliser, with Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford also on target in that 3-1 victory.

According to The Mirror, United are now prepared to offer Fernandes a lucrative new deal worth £200,000 per week at Old Trafford, with the 26-year-old currently pocketing £100k per week in Manchester.

Fernandes will not see his current deal expire until 2025, but his current weekly wage is three times below Pogba's, while the club's top earner David de Gea is on a £350,000-per-week deal.

Fernandes has already netted 10 times this season in all competitions, and the former Sporting Lisbon man has also set up his teammates six times in the 2020-21 campaign.

Real Madrid 'contact Dominik Szoboszlai over January move'

Real Madrid are reportedly prepared to get a deal for Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai over the line in January.

The financial issues at the Bernabeu have been well documented, resulting in club officials being keen to reduce the wage bill as soon as possible.

However, the team's struggles under Zinedine Zidane this season could result in movement in the transfer market, particularly if they are able to make more sales.

According to Bild, Real want to win the race to sign Szoboszlai, who is said to be available for £18m during the next transfer window.

The report claims that Zidane has already held a phone call with the Hungary international in a bid to convince the playmaker to move to La Liga.

Arsenal, AC Milan and RB Leipzig have also been heavily linked with an approach for the in-form 20-year-old.
