France boss Didier Deschamps hails Antoine Griezmann following the attacker's brace in Thursday's Euro 2016 semi-final win over Germany.

France boss Didier Deschamps has paid tribute to Antoine Griezmann after the forward scored twice in Thursday's 2-0 win over Germany in the semi-finals of Euro 2016.

Griezmann's brace in Marseille booked France's spot in the final of the competition on home soil and moved him onto six goals at this summer's tournament.

Deschamps has branded the Atletico Madrid forward "a great player" following his exploits against the world champions.

"He's a great player and he proved that against Germany, he works very hard, along with Olivier Giroud from a defensive perspective he made us a very compact unit," Deschamps told reporters.

"He has this speed and technical ability, he had a few chances. He's a very important player just as he has been with Atletico Madrid throughout the season."

France will take on Portugal in the final of the competition on Sunday night.
