West Ham co-chairman David Gold insists that Dimitri Payet is "not for sale", and stresses that it would take a bid of at least £50m for the club to listen to offers.

West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has insisted that Dimitri Payet is "not for sale" this summer.

The 29-year-old followed up a memorable debut season with the Hammers by helping France to the final of Euro 2016, scoring three goals along the way as the hosts fell just short.

Gold revealed that it would take a bid of at least £50m for the club to even consider selling the playmaker, but also stressed that he would not welcome any offers.

When asked how West Ham can keep Payet, Gold told BBC Radio 5 live: "You make him as happy as you can. He has a great relationship with the manager, which is very important to a player.

"He's settled in London with his family, the fans adore him and we're going to the Olympic Stadium so we've done everything we possibly could do and I'm hoping that that will be enough. The super-clubs would come after a player of his ability.

"We wouldn't even listen to any offer under £50m and even then we need to keep our best players, so to be honest we don't welcome any offers at all for Dimitri. He is instrumental, he is important to us, the team is built around him and I would say he's not for sale."

Payet scored 12 goals in 38 appearances during his first season in England.
