BT Sport has confirmed that its BT Sport Europe channel will be rebranded ahead of the new season.

The station - launched a year ago to herald the arrival of the Champions League and Europa League to BT - will be known simply as 'BT Sport 3' from August 4.

BT is also renaming its UHD channel, BT Sport Ultra HD, to BT Sport 4K from the same date, while EPG numbers for the portfolio of BT Sport channels will undergo reshuffles on Sky and Virgin Media.

Meanwhile, BT has announced that customers of its recently-acquired EE mobile phone network will get a free six-month trial of the BT Sport channels for streaming on mobiles and tablets.
