Everton have confirmed the signing of Fulham and Netherlands goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg on a three-year contract.

The 33-year-old, who played under Toffees boss Ronald Koeman at Ajax and on loan at Southampton last season, becomes the new manager's first signing at Goodison Park.

"I'm very happy - things have moved very fast over the last couple days," Stekelenburg told Everton's official website.

"[Koeman] has come to Everton and he called me a few days after asking if I was willing to follow him - it wasn't difficult to make that choice.

"I've been here [in England] for a couple of seasons and I love the Premier League. It's fantastic that I can stay."

Stekelenburg, who joins Everton for an undisclosed fee, has also had spells at Serie A side Roma and AS Monaco in France.
