Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has offered to sign any shirts bearing his old number after he switched his squad number from 17 to three.

The France international has taken the number, which was vacant last season, with less than a month to go until the new Premier League campaign.

However, to avoid inconveniencing fans who may have bought the 2016-17 kit with his name and the number 17 on the back, Sakho will autograph the old shirts.

Sakho is following in the footsteps of Manchester City's Sergio Aguero, who performed a similar gesture last year when he switched from number 16 to number 10.

Aguero also offered to sign any shirts bearing his previous number, while Man City allowed fans to swap a kit bearing the old number with one sporting the new one.
