Phil Neville wants his side to play with "arrogance, swagger and style" in their upcoming World Cup qualifier against Wales.

England Women manager Phil Neville has said that he wants his team to show "arrogance, swagger and style" in their World Cup qualifier against Wales.

Neville takes control of his first home game this week as England Women coach in an opportunity to overtake Wales in Group A of the 2019 World Cup.

Wales are top of the group on 10 points, with England a point behind having played one game fewer, and Neville wants his side to pursue their remaining fixtures with a touch of arrogance.

"I think we are making vast strides and a lot of the players are playing in that style now for their clubs, which is great," he told reporters.

"More belief, more confidence and that arrogance going out on the pitch and forgetting what is going on off the pitch [is what I want], whether [or not] it's a sell-out at Southampton or a lot of games in a short space of time.

"We are playing for England and I want us to play with a certain arrogance, swagger and style."

England's clash with Wales will take place at the St Mary's Stadium on Friday, with a crowd in excess of 25,000 expected.
