Chelsea manager Graham Potter admits that he is "concerned" about Reece James's latest injury setback, which the right-back suffered in the 2-0 win over Bournemouth.

Chelsea manager Graham Potter has admitted that he is "concerned" by Reece James's latest injury setback suffered in his side's 2-0 win over Bournemouth.

Potter's side's return following the break for the World Cup was largely a positive one, as goals from Kai Havertz and Mason Mount secured a much-needed win which saw them move level on points with Brighton & Hove Albion in eighth place.

However, the night was soured by another knee injury suffered by James, on his return from a similar problem which ruled him out of England's World Cup campaign.

The Chelsea manager claimed it was too soon to assess the extent of the injury, but admitted that is was concerning due to the similar nature of the issue.

"We'll have to see how the next 24 to 48 hours go. It was a sort of chopping action and then he felt something. We'll keep our fingers crossed. He's disappointed. We're just hoping it isn't as bad," Potter told reporters.

"Reece is a world-class player. You see it from the outside but it's not until you work with him that you understand how good he is. He's an incredible player. He would fit into any team in the world so any team would miss him."

James missed the World Cup for England after suffering a knee injury and has played less than 1,000 minutes of action so far this season.
