Brazil defender Thiago Silva insists that his side will remain "humble" after maintaining their positive run of form with a 1-0 win over world champions Germany.

Thiago Silva has insisted that the Brazil shirt "deserves more respect" from opposition teams after his side earned a 1-0 win over world champions Germany in Berlin.

The Selecao showed why they are considered among the favourites to lift the World Cup crown for a sixth time this summer by ending their opponents' 22-game unbeaten streak.

Silva is happy to have avenged the 7-1 loss when the teams last faced off four years ago, and admits that Brazil are now in a strong position with a little over two months to go before Russia 2018 begins.

"With all due respect to Germany, but this [Brazil] shirt deserves more respect. We're glad to have grabbed this result in front of a great team," he told TV Globo.

"We're on the right path, we're humble and disciplined, and we showed something more tonight. It means our football style is settling more and more, as we've intended since the beginning. After four months, we've 'jump-started' after a long game without playing together.

"Tonight, despite all difficulties, our marking was excellent. I think we've living an extraordinary moment. [I've been through] some rough patches, but we're aware no moment can last forever. We have what it takes to overcome and bring ourselves up again at every moment."

Brazil, who have lost just one of their last 19 matches, return to action on June 3 with a friendly against Croatia.
