Ahead of Wednesday's World Cup clash between Australia and Denmark, Sports Mole looks at the head-to-head record between the two sides.

With qualification to the last 16 still a possibility for both sides, Australia and Denmark go head to head at the Al Janoub Stadium in the final round of Group D fixtures on Wednesday.

Graham Arnold's men got their quest for a first knockout-stage appearance since 2006 back on track last Saturday when they claimed a 1-0 victory over Tunisia at the Al Janoub Stadium.

Four days on from their 4-1 thrashing at the hands of world champions France, Mitchell Duke came up clutch for the Socceroos as he netted in the 23rd minute to put the North Africans to the sword.

Having enjoyed a superb run in the UEFA qualification, where they racked up the most points and finished with the best defensive record, Denmark have endured an underwhelming campaign in Qatar.

Kasper Hjulmand's side played out an uneventful goalless draw with Tunisia in their group opener on November 22, before falling to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of France four days later.

While they sit on the brink of an early elimination, victory on Wednesday and favourable results in the other group fixture could see the Danes secure a fourth knockout-stage appearance in their last five World Cup appearances.

Denmark must end a five-game winless run at the World Cup to do so, but will fancy their chances of getting the job done against an Australia side, who they are unbeaten against in three of their four encounters, claiming one draw and two wins, including a 3-2 victory in their first meeting in February 2007.

Their most recent encounter came in Group C of the FIFA World Cup four years ago, when Christian Eriksen and Mile Jedinak scored for either side to force a share of the spoils at the Cosmos Stadium.

Australia's only victory came in a friendly fixture back in June 2010, when Josh Kennedy netted the only goal of the game in the 71st minute to hand the Socceroos a slender 1-0 victory at the Ruimsig Stadium.
