Stoke City reportedly make a surprise approach for Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has just a year remaining on his contract.

Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has reportedly attracted interest from Stoke City.

It has been well documented that the England international has just one year remaining on his existing contract, and both Liverpool and Chelsea are said to be keen on adding him to their respective squads.

However, according to The Sun, they could face competition from Stoke who are contemplating whether to pay in the region of £25m for the versatile 23-year-old.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been with the Gunners since 2011 but while he remains an important part of Arsene Wenger's squad, he has never established himself as a regular starter at the Emirates Stadium.

Just fewer than half of his 129 Premier League appearances have come from the bench, while he has been introduced as a replacement on 83 occasions in all competitions.

A move to Stoke would see him become a key man for manager Mark Hughes, who has just sold Marko Arnautovic to West Ham United.

It has been claimed that discussions are currently ongoing between the Potters and Oxlade-Chamberlain's representatives.
