Britain's Naomi Broady is knocked out of Wimbledon in the first round following a straight-sets defeat to Elina Svitolina.

Britain's Naomi Broady fell at the first hurdle at Wimbledon when she was beaten in straight sets by Elina Svitolina in the opening round on Monday.

The 26-year-old, whose best finish at SW19 was the second round in 2014, was beaten 6-2 6-3 by the world number 20.

It was a troubling start for Broady as she lost her opening service game and failed to recover as Svitolina broke again before wrapping up the first set in 30 minutes.

Broady, whose brother Liam will take on Andy Murray tomorrow, initially saved three break points on her opening serve in the second set, but Svitolina's determination paid off as the 21-year-old Ukrainian broke.

In the end, it was comfortable for Svitolina as she snatched Broady's serve to complete the match.
