Werder Bremen part company with manager Viktor Skripnik

Werder Bremen part company with manager and former player Viktor Skripnik after the Bundesliga club lose their opening three games of the new season.

Werder Bremen have announced that the club has parted company with manager Viktor Skripnik.

The Bundesliga outfit have endured a tough start to the new league campaign, having lost all three of their opening matches while conceding a total of 12 goals in the process.

"Head coach Viktor Skripnik and assistant coaches Florian Kohfeldt and Torsten Frings have been dismissed by Werder with immediate effect," read a statement on the club's official Facebook page.

"Under-23 coach Alexander Nouri will take over first team duty on an interim basis. More information to follow."

Skripnik rose through the Bremen ranks to develop his managerial career and eventually took over at the helm in 2014.
