Rickie Fowler, Matt Kuchar and JB Holmes have been selected as USA wildcards for the upcoming Ryder Cup.

Today, captain Davis Love III announced his picks, who will join the other eight players in the team for the showdown against Europe, which gets underway on September 27 at Hazeltine.

Fowler enters the fold despite disappointing on the PGA Tour having finished in the top 10 just twice in his past 12 starts, while Kuchar is given a spot having ended the BMW Championship strongly.

Holmes will feature in the Ryder Cup for the first time since 2008, but the notable absentee is world number seven Bubba Watson, who has secured three top-10 finishes in 18 PGA Tour events this season.

Watson's chances of being selected by Love are not over just yet as the USA captain has one more wildcard pick to use by September 25.

The team also includes Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth, Phil Mickelson, Patrick Reed, Jimmy Walker, Brooks Koepka, Brandt Snedeker and Zach Johnson.
