Chelsea beat Werder Bremen 4-2 in Germany to end their pre-season programme with a victory.

Chelsea have rounded off their pre-season campaign with a well-earned 4-2 win over Werder Bremen at the Weserstadion.

The Blues, who are in competitive action against West Ham United in eight days' time, scored three times in the first half but had to wait until the dying stages of the game to add to their tally.

It took just seven minutes for Chelsea to find a way through, as Eden Hazard drilled a powerful shot into the bottom corner following a smartly worked corner routine.

Oscar added a second for Antonio Conte's charges less than two minutes later to continue his scoring streak when exchanging passes with Diego Costa and coolly picking his spot past Felix Wiedwald in the Bremen goal.

Mali international midfielder Sambou Yatabare should have pulled his side back into the contest, but he could only blast wide after Claudio Pizarro pounced on Willian's poor pass.

Only a fine Wiedwald save denied Branislav Ivanovic getting off the mark on the half-hour mark, with that stop proving important as Nemanja Matic conceded a penalty for former Chelsea forward Pizarro to successfully convert.

Chelsea did manage to restore their comfortable lead before the interval, however, thanks in large part to some impressive work by Hazard to play through Costa who finished in style.

Ivanovic and Costa both missed chances to put the Blues further ahead, and that gave the Green-Whites a chance to respond as Lennart Thy hammered the ball low into the corner.

There was a worry for Chelsea late on when John Terry left the field following a collision, but their victory was sealed by Pedro who tucked home with the final kick of the game.
