Result: Toulouse retain Ligue 1 status with comfortable playoff win

Jimmy Durmaz scores late on to earn Toulouse a 1-0 win over AC Ajaccio on the night and a 4-0 aggregate victory overall, sealing Les Violets' top-flight status.

Toulouse have claimed a 1-0 win over AC Ajaccio at the Stadium Municipal to retain their Ligue 1 status, coming out on top 4-0 on aggregate in the relegation playoff.

Les Violets had done all the hard work in Wednesday's first leg, racing into a three-goal lead to effectively kill off the tie ahead of this return fixture.

Substitute Jimmy Durmaz prevented the match from finishing goalless, popping up two minutes from time to ensure that Toulouse will once again compete in the French top flight for another year.

The first opportunity of the match came and went for Yaya Sanogo, who registered in the straightforward victory at the Stade Francois Coty, while Qazim Laci shot wide at the other end.

Toulouse looked more lively in the second half, with Max Gradel coming close on a couple of occasions, but they were struggling to open their account.

Joris Sainati hit the bar for Ajaccio to fire out a little warning, but after standing strong for so long Riffi Mandanda was finally beaten in the visitors' goal late on.

Durmaz powered the ball home after a corner came into the box, condemning Ajaccio to another season in the second tier.
