Swansea City announce that the club have agreed a fee with Barnsley for defender Alfie Mawson.

Swansea City have announced that the club have agreed a fee for Barnsley defender Alfie Mawson.

The 22-year-old was recently linked with a move to Sunderland, but Swansea are on the verge of snapping him up for a £5m fee, according to Sky Sports News.

Mawson, who joined Barnsley from Brentford just last summer, will now hold talks with the Welsh club regarding personal terms.

The defender made 48 appearances for the Tykes last season and kept 16 clean sheets as well as scored seven goals as Barnsley won the League One playoff and the Football League trophy.
