Sunderland confirm that they have accepted an offer from Watford for 30-year-old defender Younes Kaboul.

Sunderland have confirmed that they have accepted a bid from Watford for Younes Kaboul.

The 30-year-old was part of the side that lost 2-1 to Manchester City on the opening day of the season, but has since spoken to manager David Moyes and expressed his desire to leave the club.

Kaboul will now discuss personal terms with Watford over a potential move and could complete his switch in time for the Hornets' Premier League clash with Chelsea on Saturday.

"This is not an easy situation for me, but the club and the manager have shown an understanding of my personal circumstances and I am grateful for that," Kaboul told the club's official website.

"The Sunderland fans have supported me fantastically well since I came to the club, they gave me my passion back and I sincerely thank them for that. I hope they understand that I have made this incredibly difficult decision for me."

Kaboul made 23 league appearances for Sunderland last season following his move from Tottenham Hotspur.
