Tottenham Hotspur and Benfica are reportedly in talks over a proposed loan deal for Carlos Vinicius, which would include an option to buy for £36m.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in talks with Benfica over a proposed loan deal for Brazilian forward Carlos Vinicius.

Spurs manager Jose Mourinho has made it clear that he intends to sign a striker as a backup to Harry Kane before the transfer window closes on October 5.

The Lilywhites have been linked with numerous forwards, including Troy Deeney and Arkadiusz Milik, but it appears that Mourinho will indeed land a new out-and-out frontman before next Monday's deadline.

According to Sky Sports News, Spurs are in negotiations with Benfica over a deal for the 25-year-old, which will include an initial loan move with an option to buy for £36m.

Vinicius notched up an impressive 24 goals and 13 assists across all competitions for the Portuguese outfit last term having joined Benfica from Napoli - for whom he did not make a single appearance - in 2019.

The striker is contracted to Benfica until 2024.
