Tottenham Hotspur to send Gedson Fernandes back to Benfica?

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly contemplating whether to send Gedson Fernandes back to Benfica during the January transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Gedson Fernandes is reportedly likely to return to Benfica during the January transfer window.

At the beginning of 2020, Spurs signed the Portuguese youngster on an 18-month loan deal, which came with the option of purchasing the player for €50m (£45.11m).

However, the 21-year-old has been provided with just three starts and 10 substitute outings during his time in North London.

According to A Bola, Fernandes is expected to return to his homeland six months earlier than planned.

President Luis Filipe Vieira has also confirmed to 'Trio d'Ataque', on RTP3, that the prospect could join Benfica's squad at the turn of the year.

Fernandes was recently left out of Jose Mourinho's squad for the Europa League.
