Real Madrid say that defender Sergio Ramos suffered a grade II sprain to his knee ligament while representing Spain at the weekend.

Real Madrid have said that Sergio Ramos's recovery from a knee ligament injury will continue to be assessed.

A report has claimed that the defender faces at least a month on the sidelines after suffering the problem while representing Spain against Albania on Sunday night.

The La Liga giants have said that tests have revealed a "grade II sprain" to his medial collateral knee ligament but are yet to put a timeframe on a possible return to action.

Ramos had been making his 12th appearance for club and country this season after a busy start to the campaign.
