Carlo Ancelotti laughs off Sergio Ramos criticism

Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti comes to the defence of Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos, who has come under criticism for conceding four penalties this season.

Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti has described Sergio Ramos as "a very complete defender" in response to the criticism that has been aimed at the Real Madrid centre-back.

In 11 games for club and country this season, Ramos has conceded four penalties, including one in Spain's 1-1 draw with Italy in Thursday night's 2018 World Cup qualifier.

The Spaniard received a host of criticism following the draw in Turin, but Ancelotti jokingly said that Ramos "only provides experience, quality, character and trophies" when asked about the 30-year-old.

"Ramos? He only provides experience, quality, character and trophies... does that seem enough to you?" Ancelotti told Marca. "You can't argue about Sergio Ramos. He's a very complete defender.

"Sergio Ramos has everything: [Fabio] Cannavaro was fantastic in the air, [Franco] Baresi commanded the defence and others for the character they gave the team. Sergio Ramos is the most complete, who ties together the best features."

Ancelotti managed Ramos at Real Madrid between 2013 and 2015.
