Andy Murray: 'I played a good match'

World number two Andy Murray is pleased with his performance during his straight-sets victory over Lucas Pouille at the Shanghai Masters.

Andy Murray has said that he is pleased with his performance during his straight-sets victory over Lucas Pouille at the Shanghai Masters this afternoon.

The world number two booked his place in the quarter-finals of the competition with a 6-1 6-3 victory over the Frenchman, taking less than 80 minutes to wrap up the victory.

Murray only registered a 46% first-serve percentage, but he believes that he has improved on his second serve, which enables him to take more risks.

"Those first two games were important. They were 17 minutes long - he had a chance in the first game, and in the second game I had a few break points before I got it," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"Once I got ahead I did feel like I played a good match. I felt I was able to dictate a lot of the points. The second serve has improved a lot this year and that allows me to go for more on the first serves."

Murray will face either Gael Monfils or David Goffin in the last eight.
