Ajax can only a manage a draw away at De Graafschap, which allows PSV Eindhoven to swoop in and win the Eredivisie title.

Ajax squandered the chance to win the Eredivisie title for the first time since 2014 as they were held to a 1-1 draw away at lowly De Graafschap this afternoon.

Frank de Boer's men went into the last game of the campaign level on points with rivals PSV Eindhoven, but crucially they held the advantage on goal difference.

However, that counted for little as Ajax slipped up, while at the same time PSV recorded a 3-1 victory at Zwolle to retain the trophy that they won 12 months ago.

It is the 23rd occasion in which Eindhoven have been crowned champions of Holland, 10 behind today's losers Ajax.
