Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has lavished praise on Jesse Lingard following the attacker's winning goal against West Ham United on Sunday afternoon.

Lingard came off the bench to net Man United's second in the Premier League affair, with the Englishman's strike helping the Red Devils record a 2-1 victory at the London Stadium.

The 28-year-old's late mistake against Young Boys in the Champions League on Tuesday cost his side, with the 20-time English champions suffering a 2-1 defeat in Switzerland.

However, the attacker bounced back with a goal against the team that he represented on loan last term, and Solskjaer hailed the club's academy product after the match.

"So happy for Jesse, he had a tough evening on Tuesday, he knuckled down, he's a positive lad, so happy for him. A good turn by Jesse, good finish," Solskjaer told Sky Sports News.

Mark Noble had the chance to score a last-gasp penalty for West Ham to level the scores, but David de Gea made the save, as Man United moved onto 13 points from their opening five matches of the 2021-22 Premier League season.
