Gary Neville believes that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho does not fully "trust" his players yet.

Gary Neville has claimed that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is yet to fully "trust" his players after an inconsistent start to the season.

The Portuguese coach, who became Louis van Gaal's successor in the summer, has guided the Red Devils to just one win in their last seven Premier League games.

The club currently sit eighth in the table, eight points adrift of the top three after 10 matches.

Last weekend, Mourinho's team produced 37 shots on goal against Burnley, but they were forced to accept a goalless draw in a game that resulted in the manager being charged with misconduct for allegedly verbally abusing a match official.

Speaking on his Gary Neville podcast, the former United captain said: "At the moment you're not quite sure that Jose Mourinho knows his best team and that he trusts his players fully yet.

"They had enough chances to win the game [against Burnley]. I think at the moment he's the one that's getting put under pressure, but nothing that two or three wins won't change.

"I have to say I thought they deserved to win, they didn't play badly at all. It wasn't a 'oh they're not playing for him, they're not with him'. There's none of that. I think when he was at Chelsea there's all that talk he'd lost the dressing room. There's nothing like that happening at Manchester United."

United will switch their attention to the Europa League on Thursday when they take on Fenerbahce in Istanbul.
