Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has expressed an interest in bringing Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez to Old Trafford, according to reports.

The under-pressure Red Devils boss is reeling from the absence of summer signing Eric Bailly, who is expected to be out for at least two months with a knee injury.

As a result, The Mirror believes that he will be delving into the transfer market with a bid in the region of £50m for the 21-year-old Uruguayan.

Gimenez, who has only made two appearances this season, sees his contract at the Vicente Calderon expire in 2018.
