Ed Woodward could remain in his role as Manchester United executive vice-chairman until next April, according to a report.

Ed Woodward could reportedly remain in his role as Manchester United executive vice-chairman until next April.

The 49-year-old, who has been in his current position since 2012, is due to step down at the end of 2021, with the announcement coming following the failure of the European Super League.

However, according to ESPN, Woodward could now delay his exit at Old Trafford until next April.

The club's executive vice-chairman was allegedly not at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon to watch Liverpool record a 5-0 victory over Man United in the Premier League.

The result piled the pressure on head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but it is believed that the Norwegian will remain in his role for Saturday's clash with Tottenham Hotspur in North London.

Woodward has sacked David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho due to their issues at Old Trafford and could yet be forced to relieve Solskjaer of his duties if the team's struggles continue.
