Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola urges his players to forget about setting a new Premier League record against Manchester United and instead focus on their gameplan.

Pep Guardiola has insisted that he is not focused on making Premier League history this weekend, as Manchester City seek a 14th successive victory when they face Manchester United.

The Citizens have won 13 top-flight games in succession to match Arsenal's record for a single season, set at the end of the 2001-02 campaign.

City face their toughest test yet on Sunday afternoon, however, taking on a United side sitting second in the table and without defeat in their last 40 matches at Old Trafford.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the derby clash, Guardiola said: "The record will be broken, my concern is how we win the game. If you play one game thinking about records you forget what you have to do.

"Winning, drawing or losing on Sunday, we are not going to win or lose the Premier League. It's December. There are a lot of points to play for, more than 70. We just focus on the game."

Victory for Man City over their arch rivals will take them 11 points clear of the chasing pack.
