Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Luton Town

Sports Mole rounds up all of Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Wednesday's Premier League clash with Luton Town.

With the Premier League title now theirs to lose, Liverpool aim for a third successive triumph when Luton Town make the trek to Anfield on Wednesday evening.

Jurgen Klopp's men earned their first Premier League success away to Brentford at the third attempt on Saturday lunchtime, as Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo contributed to a 4-1 romping.

Owing to Manchester City's failure to beat Chelsea later in the day, the destiny of the crown is now in the Reds' hands as they sit top of the table, although Arsenal remain just two points adrift of their Merseyside counterparts.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the visit of Luton, who fell short in a 2-1 loss to Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

Diogo Jota

Possible return date: Unknown

One of three first-half casualties in the success over Brentford, Diogo Jota was carried off on a stretcher after sustaining a knee injury, which occurred when Bees midfielder Christian Norgaard fell on him. Klopp admitted in his post-match press conference that the Portuguese's problem appeared severe, and there is no chance he will be involved on Wednesday.

Possible return date: Unknown

Prior to Jota's withdrawal, Curtis Jones trudged off the field at the Gtech Community Stadium with a blow to the shin, and while his issue is not thought to be as severe, it would be a surprise to see him involved in midweek.

Darwin Nunez

Type of injury: Unspecified
Possible return date: February 21 (vs. Luton Town)

After breaking the deadlock against Brentford with a delightful chip, Darwin Nunez was withdrawn at the break owing to fatigue, and he will also need a once-over before the Hatters pay a visit to Merseyside.

Alisson Becker

Possible return date: Unknown

Alisson Becker returned to full training last week following an illness, but the Brazilian shot-stopper then suffered a hamstring injury in Liverpool's final pre-Brentford training session, and it is yet to be ascertained how long the Reds will be without their first-choice goalkeeper.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Possible return date: Unknown

After spending nearly 10 months in the medical room with a hip injury, Thiago Alcantara quickly re-entered the infirmary with a muscular injury sustained in the loss to Arsenal on February 4, and there is still no timeframe on the luckless Spaniard's return.
